With the latest round of Walmart Exclusive Hasbro Star Wars product preorders shipping out from Walmart.com there was a lot of disappointed customers that received their orders in plastic bags with crushed and damaged products.
This has been going on for years now. Customers have contacted Walmart’s Customer Service to put notes on their accounts and orders to only ship in boxes and not plastic bags, but it is hit and miss if that actually happens.
I actually contacted someone higher up in the Walmart food chain and they said these notes typically don’t work because they get overlooked by the warehouse staff that pack up your orders.
He said the only way to “guarantee” your order shipping in a box is to make sure you select it as a “This order is a Gift” option in your cart. In the “this item is gift eligible” details, it clearly states that this “Item will ship in a Walmart box”.
Here is how you do that.
- Make sure the product you want is listed as “This item is gift eligible”
- Add item(s) to your cart.
- View your cart and check the box for “This order is a gift”.
- Continue to checkout and fill out Gift Details i.e. email and etc.
- Complete checkout.
Now I really hope this is true and works and every gift order does ship in a box.
As for preorders you perviously placed, I don’t believe its possible to change them to Gift orders, but I was going to try and chat with Customer Service tomorrow to check.
